You step into the shoes (or mask) of the Merc with a Mouth, dive into a twisted multiverse storyline, and unleash absurd violence paired with dark humour. According to the devs at Twisted Pixel Games and Oculus Studios, the game is a VR-exclusive experience built for Meta Quest 3 and 3S complete with parkour, guns, swords, grenades, and a brutal but comedic narrative.

I jumped in expecting chaos, fun, and the kind of VR game that hits differently when you’re holding the controllers yourself. For a few hours? That’s exactly what I got.

Why It’s Worth the Suit

  • Combat & Movement Feel Wildly Good
    When the hit detection works, punching, shooting, swinging swords, it all feels satisfying. You get that insane “film-style violence but in first-person” vibe. It is basically like Deadpool VR’s comedic plot… is second only to the exciting combat.

  • Deadpool’s Energy Translates (Mostly)
    The humour, the absurdity, the over-the-top gore, if you’re a fan of Wade Wilson, many moments will hit the mark. The game delivers laughs and gore in equal measure.

  • Visuals & VR Immersion Work, When Stable
    On a good run, the visuals, physics and interactive environments make VR feel alive. Exploding grenades, ragdoll limbs, frantic fights, when there’s no glitch, it’s a visceral, chaotic delight.

But… the fun only lasts until the glitches, restrictions, or design flaws kick in.

Where It Breaks Down – My Frustrations & Complaints

Platform Exclusivity, its Not for Everyone

One of the biggest sticking points is that Deadpool VR is exclusive to Meta Quest 3 / 3S.
If you have a different headset for example the older Quest 2, PSVR2, Valve Index, HTC Vive then you’re out of luck. I feel this is a a major barrier for fans.

Bugs, Performance Issues & Mixed Stability

Every few hours, the game shows its cracks, you see frame drops, missing textures, stutter mid-combat, or worse just desync in physics that turns a perfect kill into a whiff.

Combat Loop Can Feel Repetitive & Imbalanced

Yes, the build-a-merc-with-multiple-weapons fantasy is fun, until the loop becomes predictable. Slash, shoot, repeat. Rarely any surprises after a while. Rewards sometimes don’t match challenges, which kills the dopamine rush quickly..

Casting Controversies And Absence of Movie’s Voice Actor

In a move that disappointed some fans, Deadpool VR uses Neil Patrick Harris as the voice of Deadpool, not Ryan Reynolds. That matters if you expected the cinematic voice and familiar tone of the films. There’s no physical-recorded-video cameo from Reynolds either, so no, you don’t get the movie’s actor, just a new VR-friendly take.

No. The game is officially released only for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Quest 2 and other headsets are not supported.

So, how melty is it?

First Dive into VR Mayhem — 8/10
It’s chaotic, it’s loud, it’s absurd, perfect introduction to VR’s darker, violent comedy.

Early Bugs & Stutters — 8.7/10
You hit the first frame drops and ragdoll glitches. Fun, but jarring. Pulls you out of flow.

Combat Loop Grind — 9/10
After a few runs of “bash, shoot, rinse, repeat” you start feeling the fatigue. What was fun begins to feel routine.

Platform Lock + Performance Issues — 9.5/10
When you realize it won’t run on your Quest 2 (or PSVR2), or you crash mid-boss fight, that frustration hits hard.

Deadpool VR is wild, messy, entertaining and deeply flawed. It wastes little time getting you hooked… but it doesn’t always keep you happy.

If you have a Meta Quest 3 or 3S and you love chaotic action, irreverent humour, and VR mayhem then yes, Deadpool VR can deliver. When the physics hold, the weapons fly, and Wade cracks jokes mid-kill, it hits that unique “VR with comedy and some violence” sweet spot.

But go in with eyes wide open, you might run into bugs, replay loops, and paywall exclusivity frustration. If you’re expecting premium polish, or if you don’t own the right headset this ride might hit more potholes than thrills.

For me  I enjoyed the chaos enough to stick around a little longer.I might even jump back in when patches drop. Just don’t expect perfection… expect pandemonium.
